With 40557 spectators, Madonna set a new record for concerts at the Tele2 Arena. I'm not sure if I was counted (being accredited media representative), but it was also my first attempt to photograph there. The sheer size of the venue definitely made it a challenge, with the stage a hundred meters away from us photographers. And obviously no close-ups in my gallery at http://gaffa.se/galleries/gallery/58073 or http://www.per-engstrom.se/albums/1ad6dd97f085bf27e89ea6f21a6427e9/.
Some things are impossible to do justice in a photo. A small square image sometimes just doesn't give the impression that you get when witnessing something. Beautiful landscapes is one example, and a once in a lifetime concert in an Omnimax theatre is another.
Swedish band Kite used the whole 180 degree Cosmonova dome over the audience to project images while they were playing music, sometimes in front of the screen and sometimes behind, synchronized with sledgehammer-wielding dancers in strange costumes. I tried to cover the show (gallery at http://gaffa.se/galleries/gallery/57842), but it is only a faint representation of a great concert.
Even though I was just visiting Popaganda with friends (and not primarily as photographer), I couldn't refrain from taking at least some pictures. You can find the whole series at http://www.per-engstrom.se/albums/ac46d3a62e82e0758d7fa39d92ebb73f/
Photos from the first edition of Into the Valley, a festival for electronic music that took place in Dalhalla (near the town of Rättvik) on the 31 July 2015. Grebol, not the most famous group in the world, allowed me and some other friends to witness their first show for people outside the band. Lots of energy and raw power!
